Villa del Balbianello can only be accessed by boat. Private guest boat transportation will depart from a designated dock in Tremezzina at 4pm with return departure set from the villa at 11:30pm. We will communicate the dock location closer to the date.

If you would like to leave the villa earlier, please arrange a private water taxi, there are reputable suppliers based in Tremezzina, Bellagio and Menaggio, but plan to book early from February or March.

GETTING TO LAKE COMO

Fly into Milan Malpensa (MXP)

From Malpensa, your options for getting to Tremezzina are:

• 20 min Malpensa Express train ride to Saronno and then take a 40-50 min train from Saronno to Como Nord Lago (in the town of Como); from here you’ll need to bus, ferry or taxi to Tremezzina

• 50 min Malpensa Express train ride to Milano Centrale (or take the bus), and then take a 40 min train ride from Milano Centrale station to Como San Giovanni station (in the center of the town of Como); from here you’ll need to bus or taxi to your hotel

• Book a car service direct from the airport to your hotel (most convenient), approx €180-200

Fly into Milan Linate (LIN)

From Linate, your options for getting to Como are:

• Train to Como: 1st Taxi or a ~25 min shuttle bus to the Milan Centrale Train Station and then take a 40 min train ride to Como San Giovanni station. From here you’ll need to bus, boat or taxi to your hotel.

• Getting to Tremezzina from Como Train: Boat, Bus or Taxi, see below.

• Book a car service direct from the airport to your hotel (most convenient)

Fly into Milan Bergamo (BGY)

From Bergamo, your options for getting to Como are:

• 15 min shuttle bus ride to Bergamo Train station and then take a train to Varenna, (Ride ranges from 1.5-2 hours. You will have to transfer trains in Lecco); from here you’ll need to bus or taxi to the Ferry and ferry to Tremezzina, then taxi to your hotel.

• 50 min shuttle bus ride to Milano Centrale station, then take a 40-minute train ride from Milano Centrale station to Como San Giovanni station (in the center of the town of Como); from here you’ll need to ferry to Tremezzina, then walk or taxi to your hotel.

• Book a car service direct from the airport to your hotel (most convenient), approx €250-€300 for minivan and 90 min drive

GETTING AROUND LAKE COMO

General

To visit a town on the western side of Lake Como (Como, Bellagio, Lezzeno, Menaggio, Tremezzina, etc.) ferry or private boat service and buses are the best.

To visit a town on the eastern side (Lecco, Varenna, Colico, etc.) train service is likely the best option from outside the lake. To enjoy Varenna from Bellagio, there are 15 min ferries but purchasing tickets in advance is recommended.

Taxi Services

Traveling by taxi can be the fastest but most expensive way to get around. Your hotel concierge can arrange taxi service, or they are often queued outside of train stations.

The most commonly used taxi companies are Taxi Menaggio or Lake Como Transfers in Menaggio.

For water taxis, Menaggio Water Limosine or Cadenazzi Boats.

Rental Cars

Renting a car provides the most flexibility if traveling to towns that are further out or not wanting to be tied to a public transit schedule. Many hotels offer free parking, but keep in mind that roads are narrow and winding, so it can be difficult to drive.

If planning ahead, you can have a worry free experience with public transport around the Lake.

Public Ferry

Public boat ferries are the most popular and convenient way to get to most of the towns along the shores of Lake Como.

Use the Navigazione Laghi to search timetables online or download their app to find the best routes and timing.

There is a direct ferry departing from Bellagio and arriving at Lezzeno, every three hours, every day. The journey takes approximately 38 min.


Train Service - Trenord

Como is the only town on the western branch of the lake with a train station, so train travel is most frequently used to travel on the eastern branch.

The Trenord website and app or Omio is a great tool for planning trips via train.

Train Service on Trombetta Express

The Trombetta Express runs between Menaggio and Ossuccio stopping at various points along the way including; Menaggio Lido, Villa Carlotta and Lenno square. You can even

VISIT LAKE COMO

Glitzy, glamorous, and effortlessly easy-going, Lake Como is at the center piece of the Italian ‘lake district’, that encompasses the lakes of Maggiore, Lugano, Como, Iseo, and Garda. Located at the foot of the Alps, Lake Como provides one of the most picturesque sceneries in the world. Its characteristic shape, reminiscent of an inverted Y, results from the melting of glaciers combined with the erosive action of the ancient Adda river.

The entire perimeter of Lake Como is studded with charming villages and towns. The most popular destinations are definitely Bellagio, Varenna, Mennagio and the city that gives its name to the lake, Como. There is so much to explore!

Please note that no hotel blocks are in place and any suggestions are to be booked on a first come fort serve basis.

Here you will find recommended accommodation in the Tremezzina area, which is a collection of several villages on the western side of Lake Como. This will be our home base during the wedding and where our wedding day boat transportation will depart from (exact location to be determined). If you have a preference for a different area of the lake, please be mindful that transportation around the lake via private car or water taxi can be congested and expensive, and must be booked well in advance.

Alexa & Vinith will be renting a private Villa for themselves and immediate family members.

Please make sure the location is within 0.2 km of Tremezzina for ease to access all events and amenities.

QUESTIONS

WILL THE WEDDING BE OUTSIDE?

The wedding events will be held both outdoors and indoors at Villa del Balbianello. Outdoor pathways are paved, but some areas are hilly.

WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE?

During late May, the average temperature ranges from a high of 70°F to 55°F. The sun sets around 9PM. Please dress accordingly. We advise to be prepared and please pack a light shawl or jacket in case of rain or colder weather later in the evening.

CAN I BRING A 'PLUS ONE' GUEST OR CHILDREN?

Due to strict capacity restrictions at the Villa, only guests that have been invited will be permitted to attend. Invited guests are stated on your formal invitation. Unfortunately, there is no on-site space for a caregiver at the venue.

WHAT TIME WILL THE BOAT DEPART FROM THE VILLA?

The wedding ends at 11:30pm with boat transportation provided from the dock. If you would like to leave earlier, we advise booking a private water taxi in advance.

CAN I TAKE PICTURES DURING THE CEREMONY?

We ask that you please turn off your cellphones & cameras during the ceremony. Don't worry, we have hired a photographer and will have a lot of photos to share with you after the wedding.

WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE?

Black Tie Optional. For women, we recommend a formal gown, floor length or tea length dress. For men, we recommend a tuxedo or a suit and tie. A guest attire visual guide for inspiration will be provided closer to the wedding date.

CAN WE STAY SOMEWHERE NOT LISTED UNDER ACCOMMODATIONS?

We strongly encourage guests to stay in Tremezzina. Please be mindful that transportation around the lake via private car or water taxi can be congested and expensive, and must be booked well in advance. Please see the Accommodation tab for several hotel recommendations.

WHAT TIME AND WHERE DOES THE BOAT DEPART FROM?

Round trip private boat transportation on the wedding day departs from a designated dock (communicated later) at 4pm and departs Villa del Balbianello at 11:30pm. If you would like to leave earlier, we advise booking a private water taxi in advance. Please be reminded the only possible way to access the Villa is by boat transportation.
